Intertextile Apparel’s overseas exhibitors discuss potential and strategies in China
The attraction for overseas brands to meet Chinese trade buyers is clear – with a huge domestic population, and a rising level of high income households who associate European brands with quality, the potential for lucrative partnerships in China is high. Meanwhile, rising high-end Chinese designers seek fabrics with high-quality materials and designs, which can be found from international suppliers. The International Halls will be in halls 4.1 and 5.1 of the National Exhibition & Convention Center (Shanghai) from 25 – 27 September, at the 25th anniversary of Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Autumn Edition.
From indigo to green: Beyond Denim to display eco-conscious fabrics for Autumn / Winter 2020-21
Over 140 leading overseas and domestic denim suppliers will gather at the Beyond Denim product zone from 25 – 27 September, for the 25th Autumn Edition of Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics. With more denim factories embracing sustainable practices, including waste water treatments and renewable energy, Beyond Denim will also feature a display zone themed around natural fibres, eco-friendly dyes and a generous helping of nostalgia. High-tech features and skilled craftsmanship are also expected to be popular selling points in Autumn / Winter 2020-21 denim.
Cambodia and South Africa join Intertextile’s Accessories Vision
Around 600 exhibitors will join Accessories Vision, the comprehensive accessory product zone in hall 6.2 at Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics, from 25 – 27 September. This year, new exhibitors from Cambodia and South Africa will join the 25th Autumn Edition of the fair, further diversifying the international exhibitor line-up, which also includes suppliers from Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Taiwan and more, as well as leading Chinese companies.
Intertextile’s Functional Lab options offer high performance with low impact
Major activewear and outdoor brands, such as adidas, Columbia Sportswear, Nike, Patagonia and more, have all been releasing news with a significant theme: what’s new in their environmental efforts. Meanwhile, social media has proved successful for smaller brands offering products such as recycled activewear and shoes. For consumers with a highly active outdoor lifestyle, it stands to reason that they seek products with maximum functionality and minimal environmental impact. From 25 – 27 September, stand-out fabrics suitable for sportswear, swimwear and lingerie can be sourced from Functional Lab, at the 25th Autumn Edition of Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics.
Eco-conscious Intertextile Directions trends for Autumn / Winter 2020-21
While this year’s Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics celebrates 25 years of history, the fair also looks to the future for the next trend forecast. From 25 – 27 September, trade buyers can visit the Intertextile Directions Trend Forum for Autumn / Winter 2020-21 inspiration. The season’s trend theme is HUMAN ≒ TECH, with four trends: SENSE-ABILITY, ELECTRO-TONIC, KNOW-HOW and RE-MAKE. The theme reflects on today’s transformative era. It considers ways to rediscover a sense of self, whilst also connecting to the future.
Exhibitors connect with hundreds of Chinese fashion brands at Intertextile Shanghai & Shenzhen’s Japan Pavilions
“Made in Japan” is a popular selling point across many consumer goods categories in China – cosmetics, stationery and homeware to name a few – and this demand also extends to the apparel textile industry. The Japan Pavilion is now well established at both Intertextile Pavilion Shenzhen – the next edition of which takes place from 4 to 6 July – and Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics, and continues to draw large crowds at every edition of both fairs. This prompts a key question: every textile producing country has its specialties, but what can be learnt from the phenomenal success of Japanese exhibitors at Intertextile?
