Yarn Expo Autumn 2019 returns for earlier September date
Yarn Expo Autumn will take place from 25 – 27 September at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), in hall 8.2. In 2018, the show featured a wide range of yarn and fibre products with 501 exhibitors from 14 countries & regions. The fair will be held concurrently with the 25th Autumn Edition of Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics, in order to maximise exposure within the textile supply chain.
Yarn Expo exhibitors offer a sustainable, traceable starting point for fashion brands
In recent editions of Yarn Expo, new opportunities have been presenting themselves as demand for transparency in the textile supply chain increases. At Yarn Expo Spring 2019, three highlighted exhibitors were selected for in-depth case studies: Birla Cellulose (China), Cotton Council International (USA) and Safilin (France). Each exhibitor gave their opinion on shifting sourcing trends, what needs to be done to achieve sustainability in the textile industry, and how they found entry points into new markets at Yarn Expo.
Final report: Yarn Expo Autumn wraps up with 501 exhibitors and over 19,000 visitors
More exhibitors than ever joined Yarn Expo Autumn 2018, which was held concurrently with ITMA ASIA + CITME from 15 – 17 October at the National Exhibition Convention Centre (Shanghai). 501 suppliers from 14 countries & regions participated, with new countries to the show including France. This international diversification, as well as strong domestic numbers, demonstrated Yarn Expo’s increasing recognition as a top show in the industry. What’s more, almost 80% of exhibitors were returning from successful past editions, showing their support of the fair.
A sustainable supply chain, from the ground up: a case study of CCI
Cotton Council International (CCI) is a global non-profit organisation, which promotes US cotton using their COTTON USA™ brand. While they have participated at previous editions of Intertextile, in 2019 they took part in Yarn Expo for the first time. Messe Frankfurt had a chance to sit down with Ms Karin Malmström, Director of CCI China & Northeast Asia, to discuss the benefits of using a sustainable raw material throughout the entire supply chain.

How Safilin use their story to open new markets
Safilin first joined Yarn Expo in 2018 to test their premium linen in China. Their experience was so successful that they joined again for Yarn Expo Spring 2019. The French company combines 200 years of tradition with innovation to create a unique story, which has provided Safilin with a competitive edge in the China market. We spoke to Mr Hervé Denoyelle, Business Development Manager of Safilin, to talk about the company’s story, sustainability and new sourcing trends.

We sat down with Mr Ashish Puri, Managing Director of Sinterama Asia, to discuss how they present their greener solutions to the China market.
How Novetex finds opportunities in China
Approaching any market in the textile industry requires hard work and smart strategies, but the China market presents its own unique challenges, as one of the world’s largest consumer markets. At Yarn Expo Autumn 2018, Novetex invested in their first year of participation, bringing eye-catching booth decorations to the fair. We spoke with Mr Max Ng, Production Control Director of Novetex, to discuss potential opportunities and challenges for overseas textile companies within China, and the reasons why they identified Yarn Expo as a gateway to the China market.

Birla Cellulose: a success story in China with the help of Yarn Expo
Birla Cellulose, a member of the Aditya Birla Group, has been one of Yarn Expo’s biggest success stories, all in a very short space of time. A manufacturer of cellulosic fibres with over 50 years’ experience, they began utilising the fair’s prominent position in the industry when they undertook their first major marketing efforts in China in 2013, successfully promoting their brand and products to leading Chinese and global players through Yarn Expo. Their initial experience proved so successful, that they now organise a Birla Pavilion at both the spring and autumn editions of the Shanghai fair to showcase their own and their partner mills’ capabilities.
